Quick answerA restroom trailer gives wedding guests flushing toilets, running water and lights, but needs a hose, a dedicated 110V outlet and a level 20-foot spot. For 150 guests, a 3-stall trailer is an estimated $1,800–$2,800, while 4 deluxe and accessible units plus a sink run about $1,300–$1,875.

What is the difference between a restroom trailer and a porta potty?

A restroom trailer is a towed unit with separate rooms, flushing china toilets, running-water sinks, mirrors, lights and climate control. A porta potty is a single cabin about 44 inches wide with a waste tank. A deluxe porta potty adds a foot-pump flush and a hand sink, but no power or running water.

Which restroom option works for a 150-guest wedding?

For a 150-guest wedding with a 6-hour reception and a bar, plan either a 3-stall restroom trailer or 4 porta potties: 3 deluxe flushing units and 1 wheelchair-accessible unit, plus 1 hand-wash station. A 2-stall trailer is usually too tight for 150 guests during the dinner and toast rushes.

Porta potty math for 150 guests

  1. 150 ÷ 50 = 3 units for up to 6 hours.
  2. Alcohol adds 1 unit for every 4, minimum 1. Now 4.
  3. At least 1 must be wheelchair-accessible. ADA §213.2 calls for 5% of units in each cluster, rounded up, which is 1 of 4.
  4. Food is served, so add 1 hand-wash station per 4 toilets.

A reception longer than 6 hours adds at least 1 more unit.

Trailer plan for 150 guests

Book a 3-stall trailer. Add 1 wheelchair-accessible porta potty on level ground for guests who can't climb steps.

What does a restroom trailer need at a wedding venue?

A restroom trailer needs 3 things at a wedding: a garden-hose water source, a dedicated 110V, 20-amp outlet or a generator, and a level spot about 20 feet long that a truck can reach. If there's no hose, a water tank option is available. Without steady power, lights and climate control won't run.

Questions to ask your venue or family before booking:

  • Is there an outdoor spigot within hose reach?
  • Is there an outlet the DJ and caterer won't share?
  • If a generator is used, can it sit away from the dance floor?
  • Can a truck back a trailer onto the spot without crossing soft lawn?

See sizes and setup on our restroom trailer rental page.

When is a restroom trailer the wrong choice?

A restroom trailer is the wrong choice when the site has no water hookup or tank option, no 20-amp power, no level spot about 20 feet long, or no truck access. It's also a poor fit when you book less than 7 days out in peak season, or when guests can't climb steps.

Common trouble spots:

  • A field ceremony a long way from the barn and any outlet.
  • A sloped lawn with no flat pad.
  • A narrow lane or low branches the truck can't clear.
  • A late-booked June Saturday when trailers are already out.

In those cases, deluxe flushing porta potties and a hand-wash station do the job without hookups.

When is a porta potty the wrong choice for a wedding?

Standard porta potties are the wrong choice for a formal evening wedding where guests expect running water and lights. They also strain during long receptions, since each unit is rated for roughly 200 uses between services. Deluxe flushing units with sinks close much of that gap for less money and space.

Porta potties are the right call when:

  • The venue has no water or power.
  • Space is tight, like a small backyard or a rowhome lot.
  • The budget is fixed and the guest count is high.
  • You need extra units for vendors and caterers.

Many couples mix both: a trailer for guests and a standard unit for staff. See packages on our wedding restroom rental page.

How far ahead should I book wedding restrooms?

Book a restroom trailer at least 7 days ahead, and much earlier for May through October weddings, since trailer weekends fill first. Book porta potties 2 to 4 weeks ahead in peak season. Wedding units deliver Friday or Thursday and pick up Monday, with no extra charge for the extra days.

Cancellation is free 48 or more hours before delivery. If weather moves your date, call us and we'll reschedule. Phones are open Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., at (610) 229-3331.

How much do a restroom trailer and porta potties cost for a wedding?

As an estimate, a 2-stall restroom trailer runs $1,200–$2,200 for a weekend, a 3-stall $1,800–$2,800 and a 4-stall $2,500–$3,800. Deluxe flushing porta potties run about $300–$425 each, and wheelchair-accessible units $275–$375 each. Your final price comes on an itemized quote.

Related questions

Can wheelchair users use a restroom trailer?

Restroom trailers sit on a towed frame, so guests climb steps to get in. For wheelchair users, plan at least 1 wheelchair-accessible porta potty on level ground, designed to meet ADA turning-space guidelines.

Is a 2-stall trailer enough for 100 to 150 guests?

A 2-stall trailer has one toilet and sink per side. It suits a wedding of around 100 guests better than 150. For 150, step up to 3 stalls or add porta potties beside the trailer.

Can the trailer go on the lawn at a backyard or farm wedding?

The trailer needs a level spot about 20 feet long that the truck can back onto. Firm, dry, level ground can work. Send us photos of the spot before you book.

Can I mix a restroom trailer and porta potties?

Many weddings use a trailer for guests and a standard or accessible porta potty for vendors and anyone who can't use steps. It also shortens lines during dinner.

Do you rent shower trailers for wedding weekends?

We don't offer shower trailers. If your wedding weekend needs showers, call us and we can point you toward options.
